Kenya’s Future in Question: Majority Believe Country is on the Wrong Path

A new survey conducted by Infotrak has revealed that a large number of Kenyans are dissatisfied with the state of the nation. The report shows that 76% of Kenyans think the country is moving in the wrong direction, a significant increase compared to 18% in December 2022. This growing concern comes as many people face economic hardships and poor governance.

The survey highlights that most Kenyans are worried about the economy. About 83% believe that the economy will worsen in 2025. Many blame high taxation, poor business performance, and widespread job losses for the financial struggles they face. Businesses are struggling, and families are finding it harder to make ends meet. These challenges have caused frustration among many citizens, who feel abandoned by their leaders.

Looking back at 2024, 64% of Kenyans said it was a bad or terrible year. This shows that the majority of people have faced significant difficulties and believe the government has not done enough to address their needs. Issues such as poor governance and declining financial stability have added to the discontent.

Despite the negativity, some Kenyans still have hope for a better future. According to the survey, 30% believe 2025 will be a better year. The youth, in particular, are more optimistic, with 47% expressing hope for positive changes in the coming year. This resilience among young people suggests that they still believe in the possibility of progress, even during tough times.

Compared to 2022, when 82% of Kenyans felt hopeful about the future, optimism has dropped significantly. Many attribute this to the current economic crisis, poor leadership, and high taxes. These factors have made it hard for people to trust that things will improve anytime soon.

The Infotrak survey was carried out on December 20, 2024. It used phone interviews to gather opinions from people across all 47 counties in Kenya.

The survey results paint a clear picture of the challenges facing Kenyans today. Economic struggles, poor governance, and high taxes are major concerns that need urgent attention. While many people feel hopeless about the future, the optimism of the youth offers a glimmer of hope.

As we begin 2025, it is crucial for the government to address these issues and work towards improving the lives of its citizens. By focusing on better leadership and economic reforms, there is a chance to restore hope and confidence among Kenyans.
